Garden notebook

Orange field notes

A few observations from a small garden, one season at a time.

A sunny place

Citrus plants appreciate a bright spot with room for air to move around the leaves. A sheltered corner can make a useful home for a young tree.

Water with care

Check the soil before watering. Let excess water drain away, and watch how the plant responds as the weather changes.

Keep a notebook

Record the first new leaf, a flower bud, or a change in colour. Small details are easier to notice when there is a record of the previous week.
